Assessments
Tracking your level of fitness is an important part of any exercise program. PROTOGYM determines your fitness level through the use of assessments. An assessment is simply a subjective measurement of how "fit" you are in your own opinion. Some personal trainers and fitness software programs attempt to measure your fitness by measuring your pulse or how many push-ups you can perform. However, these tests are often performed inaccurately and can produce a wide range of results since every person is different. The best way to determine how fit you are is to take an honest look at yourself and decide. PROTOGYM offers guidelines for you to gauge your fitness level and uses your decision to design safe workouts that are within your ability range and never offer exercises beyond your capabilities.
Every exercise in PROTOGYM is programmed with data that describes how it will behave for persons of various fitness levels. Some exercises will not appear for users because it is too easy or too hard. Additionally, the amounts of weight, distances, and heights of exercises are also calculated for your fitness level to make sure the challenge is comparable to your abilities.
Initial Assessment
All new users of PROTOGYM are required to complete an initial assessment. Your height, weight, and initial selection of fitness level are all that are required. This allows you to quickly pick a starting point to begin using the software right away. You can modify your fitness level at any time by performing another assessment. You can also temporarily override it when creating automatic workouts to see what another level may be like for you.
Regular Assessments
As your exercise regimen continues over time, you will soon find yourself in better shape. PROTOGYM will occasionally remind you to take another assessment to keep track of your progress. By keeping your assessments current, you'll find yourself unlocking newer exercises and workouts increasing in difficulty to keep you motivated and challenged. Also, your personal progress is tracked so you can see how you've lost weight or advanced your fitness level.
