Exercises
PROTOGYM features an extremely diverse range of exercises that focus on athletic style training in addition to typical bodybuilding exercises. While most fitness software is geared towards lifting weights and doing sit-ups, PROTOGYM adopts a more progressive style of training where it continually challenges your body with athletic movements, strength challenges, and high intensity training.
Base Exercises and Exercise Progressions
PROTOGYM features over 200 base exercises with over 700 available variations called progressions. A base exercise is the basic version of an exercise and can be something such as a bench press, shoulder raise, or plank. Each of these base exercises has the potential to be modified in a variety of ways using different equipment or body configurations. As the base exercise is modified in various ways, it progresses in difficulty - hence progression. For example, the bench press can progress by performing it a stability ball instead of a flat bench. The shoulder raise becomes harder as you suddenly execute it on one leg. The plank progresses by adding arm and leg raises. By taking exercises and modifying them in new and interesting ways, PROTOGYM constantly keeps you on your toes by presenting new challenges for your body.
To further demonstrate, take a look at this featured base exercise the Side Plank:
However, the Side Plank has nine possible progressions. By adding leg lifts and equipment to your legs or arms on, the challenge can be greatly increased for what started as a straightforward exercise. The end result is exciting variations to standard exercises to keep your workouts fresh and interesting. Take a look here to see how the Side Plank uses variations in execution to progress in difficulty:
Equipment-based Exercises
PROTOGYM is programmed with over 70 pieces of equipment for you to use when exercising. As you’ll see in the Virtual Gym, you can select which equipment you have, and, thus, PROTOGYM will only display those exercises to you. With a wide range of equipment choices, you will be exposed to new and challenging varieties of exercises not typically found in most fitness programs.
